Open Entries Swell To Over Sixty With Six States And Canada Represented

CORNELIUS, N.C. (July 2, 2015) - With two months remaining until the inaugural Kyle Larson's Outlaw Kart Showcase Presented by ParkerStore, the entry list continues to grow, already halfway to capacity.

To date, 62 open entries have arrived from six states: Arizona, California, Idaho, Indiana, North Carolina and Oregon, as well as Alberta, Canada. Drivers entered thus far range from age 12 to 64.

"Every time I get an update on the entries coming in it's pretty interesting," said Larson, who will also compete in the event. "The format is set for 96 cars, but it looks like, at this rate, we may have to add to that. This has been a lot of fun and we haven't even started racing yet."

One of the notable entries to date is 19-year-old Holly Shelton. Shelton competes regularly at Cycleland Speedway and is the current point leader at the 1/6-mile clay oval. Shelton has earned four wins in just eight races this season, including the June 20th event that saw her competing against Larson and fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

“Cycleland is the best outlaw kart racing anywhere,” said Shelton. “Fans won’t want to miss this event. There’s going to be drivers from all over the country coming.

“I’m not at all intimidated by racing against Kyle or other drivers at his level. I grew up racing with him at an indoor track in Sacramento, so I’m used to it. I just run my own race and don’t worry about anyone else.”

Deadline for entries is August 1st for the discounted $50 fee or August 15th at the regular $75 entry fee. Entries will not be accepted after the August 15th date or at the gate.
